Robert Jones joined the firm as Managing Partner of Baker & Partners (Cayman) Limited in October 2020.
Robert qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1990 and practiced there with Dibb Lupton Alsop (now DLA Piper) before relocating to the Cayman Islands. He was called to the Cayman Bar in 1998, where he practiced and became partner with a local firm, before establishing his own dispute resolution office in 2012.
A commercial litigator, Robert has substantial experience in the field of dispute resolution and appears before the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal and its Grand Court Financial Services Division and Civil Division.
Robert also specializes in regulatory disputes, particularly those involving the Cayman Islands Labour Law (Revised) and Immigration Law (Revised). He was been Chair of the Cayman Islands Labour Tribunal from 2012 to 2022 and since 2023 has been Chair of the Cayman Islands Labour Appeals Tribunal. Robert advises some of the major hotels and educational establishments in Cayman on regulatory matters, has represented the Cayman Islands Government before the Civil Service Appeals Commission and in 2008 represented the subject of a Commission of Enquiry.
As Managing Director of Baker & Partners (Cayman) Limited Robert, alongside the Baker & Partners team, will provide local on-the-ground advice and assistance on dispute resolution matters.
